Set returns and cancellation policies
Write the policy text parents can open on the Review & pay screen before they pay
Policies are the fine print parents can open on the Review & pay screen before they pay. Shop has two: Returns and exchanges, and Order changes and cancellations.
Before you start
- You need the Shop Manager role.
- Draft your wording first. Keep it short and specific, for example "Unworn items with tags still on can be exchanged within 30 days. Bring your receipt."
- Go to Settings › Online ordering and open the Policies tab.
Add or change a policy
- On the Policies tab, find the policy card.
- Turn its switch on.
- Type your wording in the text box that appears.
- Repeat for the other policy if you want one.
- Select Save changes. A message confirms "Policies saved". Use Discard to drop edits you haven't saved.
An enabled policy can't be saved without text. The box shows "Content is required".
The status under each policy
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Hidden at checkout | The switch is off. Parents don't see this policy. |
| Nothing written yet | The switch is on but the text box is empty. Parents don't see it until you write something. |
| Shown at checkout | The switch is on and there's text. Parents can open it on the Review & pay screen. |
What parents see
Each policy that is switched on and has text appears as an expandable section on the Review & pay screen, above the order totals: Returns & exchanges and Order changes and cancellations. Parents select the heading to read your wording. If both policies are off, that screen shows no policy section at all.
Good to know
- Switching a policy off keeps your text. Switching it back on shows your wording again.
- The text is information for families. It doesn't restrict what you can do. You can still cancel an order or refund items whatever your policy says. See Cancel an order and Refund or exchange items.
