Add and reorder products in a collection

Put products into collections, take them out, and set the order shoppers see

Once you've created a collection, fill it with products and put things in the order you want shoppers to see.

Before you start

  • Open Catalogue › Store Front.
  • You need the Shop Manager role.

Add products to a collection

From a collection

  1. Open the Available collections or Unavailable collections tab.
  2. Select the arrow on the collection to expand it, then choose Add products.
  3. Use Search products to find products by name. Products already in this collection aren't listed.
  4. Tick each product. The footer shows how many you've selected.
  5. Choose Add N to [collection name].

A message confirms how many products were added. New products go to the end of the collection.

From the Hidden products tab

The Hidden products tab lists products that shoppers can't find because of their collections. Each row says why, such as "Not in a collection" or "Winter uniform is inactive".

  1. Choose Add to collection on a row. To fix several at once, tick them and choose Add to collection on the bar that appears.
  2. In the picker, tick the collections. Use Search collections to narrow the list. A collection with no products is marked "No products yet · hidden from shoppers".
  3. If your search finds nothing, choose Create "[name]" collection to make one on the spot.
  4. Choose Add to N collections.

From the product list

On Catalogue › Products, tick products and choose Add to collection. See Manage your product list.

Remove a product from a collection

  1. Expand the collection and select × on the product.
  2. Read the confirmation, then choose Continue.

A message tells you what happened to the product:

  • Still live via [collection]: it's also in another active collection.
  • Collection now empty, still active: it was the last product, but the collection stays on.
  • Product now hidden: it's in no other active collection, so shoppers can no longer find it.

The product itself isn't deleted. You can add it back any time.

Change the order

Shoppers see collections, and the products inside each one, in the order set here.

  1. Hover the grip icon (Reorder) on a collection or product row. Collections can only be reordered on the Available collections tab.
  2. Drag it to where you want it and drop it.
  3. Wait for Collection order updated or Product order updated.
  4. Refresh the page and check the order is what you wanted.

The collection at the top is marked Shown first. If you can't reorder products, clear the search box first. Products can only be reordered while search is empty.

Tip: Rows marked Also in show the other collections a product belongs to. Hover the name for a warning if that collection is inactive or has different rules.

Good to know

  • Reordering needs a mouse or trackpad. Dragging may not work on a touch screen.
  • If a change can't be saved you'll see "Could not save the new order, try again" and the list returns to how it was.
  • A product is only visible while it's in at least one active collection.
