Create and manage add-ons

Build reusable extras like embroidery or gift wrap that customers choose at checkout

An add-on is an extra a customer can choose when they buy an item, such as embroidery, a name tag or gift wrap. You build each add-on once in your library, then attach it to the products that offer it.

Before you start

  • Open Catalogue › Add-ons in the Store Portal.
  • You need the Shop Manager role to create, change or delete add-ons.
  • Decide how customers will choose: type their own text, pick one option, or pick several.

Create an add-on

  1. Choose New add-on (or Create add-on if your library is empty).
  2. Enter an Add-on name, for example "Embroidery". This is required.
  3. Optionally add a Description. Customers see it.
  4. Under Customer selection type, choose one:
    • Text input: the customer types their own text, such as a name to embroider.
    • Choose one: the customer picks one option from a list.
    • Choose multiple: the customer picks several options, up to a limit you set.
  5. For Choose one and Choose multiple, add the options. Type an Option name and a price, then choose Add. Enter 0.00 for a free option. Select Add option for each extra one.
  6. Drag the handle (Reorder option) to change the order options appear in, or select × to remove one.
  7. Leave These prices include tax ticked if the prices you entered already include GST.
  8. For Choose multiple, set Selection limit: "Customers can pick up to [number] options".
  9. Check the green preview box at the bottom. It shows what customers will see, for example "Choose one: Small ($5.00), Large ($8.00)".
  10. Choose Create add-on.

The button stays disabled until the add-on is valid. Text input add-ons have no options and no price.

Find an add-on

Each add-on appears as a card with its name, type, description, options with prices, and how many products it's attached to. Use Search add-ons to search by name, or the type menu to show All types, Text input, Choose one or Choose multiple.

Edit, duplicate or delete

Open the ⋮ menu on a card.

  • Edit: change anything, then choose Save changes. The button is disabled until you change something. Changes show straight away on every product that uses the add-on.
  • Duplicate: confirms with a message and opens the copy, named "Copy of …", so you can rename it. The copy keeps the original's options and is attached to the same products, with the same Required or Optional setting. It's live straight away.
  • Delete add-on: the dialog tells you how many products it's attached to. Choose Delete add-on to remove it from all of them immediately.

Important: Deleting an add-on takes it off every product straight away. Check the number in the dialog first.

Good to know

  • Each product decides whether an add-on is Required or Optional. That setting isn't part of the add-on itself. See Attach add-ons to products.
  • A customer can't add an item to their cart until they've filled in every required add-on.
  • Option prices are extra amounts added to the item price.
  • Order details keep the add-on name and choice the customer made when they ordered.
  • If you change a Choose one add-on to Text input, its options are removed.
