Online ordering settings overview
See what each Online ordering tab controls and what parents see at checkout
The Online ordering settings control how parents order from your shop: where they collect, when orders are packed, whether you post parcels, and what you tell them about returns. This article is a map of the five tabs and what each one changes at checkout.
Before you start
- You need the Shop Manager role. Online ordering and Shop settings don't appear in the left menu for other roles. See Store Portal roles and access.
- Find the settings under Settings › Online ordering in the Store Portal.
What each tab does
| Tab | What you set | What parents see |
|---|---|---|
| Packing | The days you pack, and an optional same-day cut-off time for each | An "Orders packed from…" date at checkout |
| Pickup | Where a packed order is handed over, and collection times | A list of pickup locations to choose from |
| Delivery | Whether you post parcels, what it's called, what it costs | A postage option with its name, information and fee |
| Closures | Holidays and breaks when nobody is packing | A later packed-from date, with the reason |
| Policies | Returns and exchanges, and order changes and cancellations | Expandable sections on the Review & pay screen |
How the settings fit together
- Ordering is open all day, every day. Your settings don't stop anyone placing an order. They change the date you promise.
- The packed-from date comes from Packing plus Closures. It's the first packing day you haven't closed, taking the cut-off time into account. Every order placed at the same moment gets the same date. See Set packing days and cut-off times for worked examples.
- Pickup times are information only. They tell families when they can collect. They never change the packed-from date.
- Orders reach your To pack list straight away. If you pack one earlier than the promised date, the family gets it sooner.
Save each tab on its own
Every tab has its own Save changes button (Pickup and Closures save when you confirm in their dialogs). Save before you switch tabs, because the portal doesn't warn you about unsaved changes when you move between Online ordering tabs.
Red dots on tabs
A red dot on Packing or Pickup means setup is required. The portal shows Families can't order yet inside the tab until you:
- tick at least one packing day, and
- add at least one pickup location.
Good to know
- Choosing between the 3-step and 2-step order flow isn't here. It's under Settings › Shop settings › Order fulfilment. See Choose your order fulfilment flow.
- Pickup location and policy changes apply to orders placed after you save.
- The page also works on a phone. The tabs wrap onto a second row.
